Power

When it comes to power, the 4×4 Renegade Trailhawk has a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine with a  nine-speed automatic transmission.  The engine creates 177 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque.

The Overland has a 3.2-liter, V-6 24-valve VVT engine under the hood of both its front-wheel-drive and 4×4 models. It pairs with a nine-speed automatic Autostick transmission.

Performance

If you are looking at the Renegade Trailhawk, the Selec-Train traction management system has four standard settings with an optional fifth. The standard settings are auto, snow, sand, and mud. The optional fifth allows you to climb rocks with extra traction so you can safely navigate any location. The Trailhawk will enable you to tow a maximum of 2,000 pounds.

The Cherokee Overland features the Jeep Active Drive I 4×4 system. It allows drivers to quickly shift between four different modes: auto, snow, sport, and sand/mud. The quick-change gives you the ability to adapt to changing weather and terrain conditions. The system also features a rear axle disconnect that engages when needed for a more efficient drive. Using a standard towing package, you can tow 2,000 pounds with the Overland. Upgrade the towing package, and you can haul a maximum of 4,500 pounds.

Off-Roading

Off-roading is where the Renegade Trailhawk stands out. The SUV has enough ground clearance to handle a variety of terrains, including good sized rocks. Use the hill descent control system to navigate steep slopes. Don’t let the water stop you as the Renegade Trailhawk features water fording capabilities. The vehicle is sealed to protect electrical systems as you work your way through streams or flooded underpasses.

The suspension of the Overland allows the vehicle to move through varying terrains safely and efficiently. Simply switch between the modes on the shift knob and the truck is ready for off-roading.

Safety

Safety is essential on any adventure. The safety features echo each other in both vehicles. Electronic stability control helps you keep the vehicle in control no matter what the road ahead brings. It works with automated roll mitigation system to reduce the possibility of a rollover crash. Add the available adaptive cruise control to make sure you always maintain a safe driving distance on the way to your adventure.

The available blind-spot monitoring system warns you if a hazard is blocking a possible lane change. The vehicles also have an available lane departure warning system. This system alerts you through visual and audio warnings if you start to drift and allows you to correct your lane position gently. Add rain-sensing windshield wipers that turn on as soon as the windshield gets wet keeping you ahead of the weather.
